Block of the Month – $32.00 per month – 12 month BOM programme (no threads)
We will be using the Sue Spargo hand dyed wools for the backgrounds, boarders and
applique, cotton fabrics for overlays, cotton backing and binding. Excludes Batting.
(Comparable substitutions for out-of-print fabrics and wool textures will be made).

We have given you options for this block of the month programme as a lot of you have
already built up your thread collection over time and may have already
purchased your Critter & Clover book. This block of the month programme
will run over a 12-month period.
Please note that this project has just been released by Sue Spargo and some
cotton fabrics for overlays may not be available to us here in NZ therefore
our block of the month will vary a little with regards to the cotton overlays,
but we will endeavour to get close in colour. All the 100% Sue Spargo Wools
will be used along with the Sue Spargo Embellishment Threads. However,
we reserve the right to make changes due to any goods being in short supply
which would be out of our control.

To confirm your place in this programme a $64.00 deposit would be required on signup.
This deposit is a nonrefundable deposit and would be used as payment for Blocks 11 & 12. Once
your deposit is paid you are committed to the 12 month programme and unable to withdraw.

The Block of the Month will commence September 2025.

Efina was developed for hand cotton appliqué. It is a 60wt 2 ply 100% Egyptian cotton, made exclusively from 100% premium fiber Giza – the highest caliber extra-long-staple Egyptian cotton. Fibers spun with this fiber are prized for their extreme softness, strength, and unparalleled luster. Uniformity in diameter makes Efina the perfect choice for hand appliqué. Available in 60 original Sue Spargo colors on handy 150m spools. These colors match Sue’s Ellana wool thread and wool fabric lines so that projects can easily be coordinated.

Engineered with hand wool appliqué in mind, Ellan is a 28wt 2 ply, 50/50 Merino Wool/Acrylic blend. The wool provides a rich colour palette and soft loft, while the acrylic gives the thread unbelievable strength. Its perfect twist allows the thread to gently coat the edge of wool appliqué, melting into the wool. The result is an almost invisible whipstitch which creates a smooth, clean edge prepared for embellishing. Ellana is fray resistant and contains significantly less fuzz, rendering an unparalleled smoothness. Its soft loft is ideal for creating delicate detail when used for hand embroidery. Dazzle is a 100% Rayon thread that contains one strand of metallic. The metallic strand creates a slightly textured thread that adds instant visual interest to stitchery. Due to Dazzle’s light reflective properties, the detail of wool applique and layering can be enhanced with edging stitches.

Sue Spargo’s Eleganza Perle cotton collection is designed to meet the specific needs of hand stitchers, embroiderers and embellishers. Passionate about stitching, Sue set out to design a product of the highest quality in collaboration with Wonderfil Specialty Threads. Eleganza is made from 100% Giza 88, the highest caliber extra long staple Egyptian cotton. Fibers spun with this fiber create a thread of extreme softness, strength and luster. An extra 15% twist has been incorporated into the design of Eleganza resulting in a thread of superior stability, uniformity and sewability. Eleganza is double gassed and mercerized to eliminate build up of lint and snub, largely enriching the appeal of stitchery. Sue has designed a bright, saturated color palette along with a unique line of variegates. Eleganza’s collection of variegates contain extra short variegations in order to provide rapid color change on small scale designs.
